What are sleepsuits for newborns and how to choose them. Slips and bodysuits for newborns Is the slip comfortable and if you buy, which one

Baby bodysuits, slips, sandboxes: similarities and differences.

Small children are the biggest fidgets. Almost from birth, they do not want to sit still. First, they turn over in one barrel to another, as well as on the back and tummy. Then they learn to crawl. Then already walk. Kids are ready for anything - just not to sit still!

Therefore it is very important buy the child in “correct” clothing. By the word "correct" we mean - convenient, comfortable, not pressing on any parts of the body, not causing inconvenience to the baby.

And such clothes, first of all, include slips, bodysuit And sandpipers. Let's try to figure out what it is, and what clear advantages it has.

A few words about slips.

slip- This is designed primarily for sleeping a child. But don't take it slips exclusively in quality, because in it it is convenient for the baby not only to sleep, but also to move easily.

slip- very comfortable for babies from birth to a year. After all, no matter how much the baby spins and twitches his arms and legs, he will always be dressed, and the back will always be closed.

As for the varieties of slips, they differ mainly only in fasteners. For babies from 0 to 3 months, the ideal option would be slips, in which the buttons are located in the middle (from the neck to the very bottom) and diverge on the legs. Such slips are very convenient for changing clothes, they will significantly save mom's time. Also better for the little ones. buy slips with closed handles so that the kids do not scratch themselves.

The second variant of fasteners is when the buttons are located from the neck and go to one of the legs. Such slips Suitable for babies from 3 to 6 months. They are not very convenient for newborns, but for babies older than 3 months they will be an excellent option.

For babies older than six months, you can buy slips with open legs. Such things will last you longer, because. they can be worn at home, even when they become a bit short for the crumbs.

A few more slip tips:

  • buy better slips on buttons than on ties, buttons or zippers;
  • Babies who can't sit still shouldn't buy slips with buttons on the back;
  • you should not buy slips with buttons only around the neck and between the legs - they are inconvenient to take off and put on.

Bodysuit: comfortable for the baby and comfortable for the mother.

Bodysuit- comfortable modern clothes for the crumbs. The main advantage is that bodysuit fastened between the legs of the child, which means they will not crumple and ride up, causing discomfort to the baby.

Bodysuit very popular today, and worth cheap so stock up on more of them. After all bodysuit perfect for sleeping when it's warm at home, and for walking in hot weather, and you can also wear them under clothes (for example, under and panties) and be sure that the baby's back will always be closed.

Best for babies 0 to 3 months old buy bodysuit, unbuttoned along the entire length. Then it will be more convenient to change clothes for the baby.

In addition, there are the following options for body fasteners:

  • with two buttons on one shoulder;
  • with one or two buttons on the back;
  • wrapped around the shoulders.

Which one to choose is up to you. The main thing is that the baby should be in this bodysuit comfortable, and you could easily change your baby's clothes.

Bodysuits are also distinguished by the length of the sleeve:

  • bodysuit T-shirts
  • bodysuit short-sleeve;
  • bodysuit with long sleeve.

Which bodysuit choose better? It depends on the time of year and air temperature. The baby should not be hot in it, but he should not be cold either.

Sandman: differences and similarities with bodysuit.

In fact, sandpiper And bodysuit are similar to each other. They differ mainly only in style. Therefore, all the characteristics and advantages bodysuit apply to the sandbox.

For sandboxers, the bottom is sewn in the form of shorts, and the top has a short sleeve or no sleeve at all (there is also an option for ties for children from 9 to 12 months). For little princesses you can find sandpiper having an additional skirt.

Sandboxers better protect babies during walks. And the back always remains closed, and the “shorts” protect the legs if the baby suddenly wants to sit down in an unexpected place (in the sand, on asphalt or in the grass).

Sandman, as well as bodysuit, allow you to quickly change the baby's diaper.

The dowry list for the baby was compiled very long and carefully. Now I’m most interested in what came in handy from what I bought.

Most of all I had questions about clothes: what to buy, in what quantity and how much of this goodness is needed?

When compiling a dowry list, these resources helped me a lot (clickable links):
1. What is the difference between a bodysuit and a slip, and a slip from a jumper -
2. May boy's wardrobe
3. Hit-parade of goods for the baby! According to the results of the 1st year
4. Webinar "Children's dowry: choosing the right and best" from the company "Mother and Child"

And when compiling an understanding of what is required from clothes for a walk, these two resources were very useful to me:
1. How to dress a child up to a year for a walk. In pictures!
2. Walking children (from birth to 3 years) in the fall. How to walk and dress

And, of course, the collective mind of conscripts and experienced mothers. Therefore, I want to dedicate this post to clothes. I hope expectant mothers find some of this useful.

So, my beloved son Sasha was born on September 22, 2014, 50 cm tall and weighing 3320 g.
Clothes (for home and sleep)
1. Short Sleeve Kimono Bodysuit:
Kiabi - 4 pcs. R. 1M
Kiabi - 4 pcs. R. 3M

Very comfortable bodysuits, especially for the night - easy to undress, easy to put on thanks to the kimono clasp. Size 1M was worn a couple of times - for discharge and at home. Three bodysuits remained unworn. And the last time I put it on at home, the umbilical wound was pinched and began to bleed. So we decided that bodysuits are catastrophically small. If you take, then immediately only 3M and more. Offline, I saw such bodysuits only in Kiabi. But they say that there is in Zara. And online I really liked the sets in Vertbaudet.

2. Short Sleeve Lapel Shoulder Bodysuit:
Next - 4 pcs. R. 62 (up to 3M)

Bought a set of 4 bodysuits. They came in handy closer to 1.5 months, when they began to heat in the apartment.

3. Slips with fasteners in the center with anti-scratches:
Mothercare - 6 pcs. R. 56 (New Baby): 3 pcs. with a pattern, 3 pcs. whites (I won’t post photos of whites anyway)

Next - 3 pcs. R. NB (our set is no longer on sale, but the meaning is clear)
Next - 4 pcs. R. 62 (up to 3M)

I put on slips from Next size NB at the maternity hospital, after 2 weeks they became small, so if you take, then one set of 3 pieces. will be sufficient. But the slips from Mothercare, although marked New Baby, were great for us for a very long time. Plus 6 pcs. it was clearly not enough for me (they haven’t heated the houses yet, so they mostly hung out in them).
When we switched to size 62, the set from Next was quite enough, because bodysuits from the same Next were already actively worn.

4. Pants:
Carter's - 2 pairs of r. 3M

Two pairs are more than enough. I took them with the goal of putting them on over the bodysuit, but I read in ru-perinatal and in malyshi that an additional layer of extra clothes is created, so I only wore it a couple of times with a long-sleeved bodysuit, when all the slips were washed and when a long-sleeved T-shirt appeared in the house , but it's closer to the New Year.
The downside of this particular pair: the lack of cuffs on the ankle.

5. Beanies without ties:
Next - 3 pcs. R. 0-3M with knot

Reima - 1 pc. R. 36-38 cm with knot and cute "With love and care" lettering (full mimimi)

Reima wore it on discharge and on the street, but quickly also became small, and hats from Next were put on after a bath. But Sasha has a terrible allergy to hats, so they wore them for 3 weeks in total.

6. Socks:
Carter's - 6 pairs of cotton short

Mothercare - 1 pair cotton long (photo not found)
GAP - 2 pairs of long terry (photo not found)

They turned out to be the most comfortable from GAP thanks to an elastic band, they fly off at least not immediately) The most stupid - from Carter's.

7. Booties:
Carter's - 2 pairs of r. 0-3M

I put it on in the hospital over the slip, but they fly off in no time, so they didn’t wear it at all. I also consider it a worthless purchase.

8. Anti-scratch Mittens:
Next - 3 pairs of p. 0-18M (I think this makes sense too)

Again, not used as intended. The nails for the first 2.5 months did not cause any discomfort, not a single scratch on the face, but when the hands found the eyes, no mittens could save. The only way out is to cut your nails more often. And she wore it like mittens with a slip, which did not have "built-in" anti-scratches.

Diapers (NOT for swaddling)
1. Little me: 5 light diapers (batiste), 5 warm diapers (flannel) 120x75 cm

I use them exclusively for "lay under the child." Children of the first year of life spit up, yes, yes, as Comrade Komarovsky writes. And from 2-2.5-3 months, drooling begins to flow (we have exactly flowed at 2.5). And closer to 4 in general, the river poured. So the diaper will not be superfluous.
I have three more Barkito flannels. Their flannel is thicker and warmer.

2. Carter's - 2 pcs.

Swaddling in them is unrealistic, but covering the baby in the crib is completely.

Diapers (FOR changing)
For the first month, Sasha, as a standard baby, fell asleep after feeding, I put him in my crib or left him on an adult, covered with a blanket. Sasha's hands did not interfere, I did not even think about swaddling. But one day I could not shift Sasha to the crib. Then the second, third time, then a month he slept only in his arms. In addition, Sasha demonstrated all his activity, for which he had hands at all (obviously not for boredom). He simply couldn’t sleep undressed (or without my hands) (and still can’t): he immediately pulls them to his face, gouges out his eyes, pinches his nose. Spinning like a spinning top.
Therefore, I bought three "straight jackets" (not immediately, but in turn):

Miracle Blanket by Red Castle
[the baby in the photo is straight to us Sasha :))))

SwaddleMe Stage 2 Size L Jungle

SwaddleMe Stage 3 WrapSack size L Car color

I use all three) Red Castle on the naked body, SwaddleMe Stage 2 either on top of the bodysuit, or also on the head of the body, but SwaddleMe Stage 3 WrapSack on top of the slip, but I don’t stuff my legs into the bag, but just tighten the handles. In my subjective opinion, the diapers are quite parky.
Summer Infant has a whole swaddling system depending on the age and weight of the child.
The acquisition of such diapers is NOT a paramount task. It's good to just know about their existence and if you buy something quickly, for example, on formybaby.ru or on mytoys.ru.

Clothing (outside)
When compiling a list of what I need for walking, I was guided by these two VERY informative resources (links are clickable; I duplicate):

1. Terry slip
Carter's - 1 pc. R. NB

This is my love at first sight. Sasha checked out in it) Convenient buttons, moderately warm. Such a sweetheart striped. But quickly became small. 3 weeks after birth. I wore it in demi-season overalls (if it was cool) or it and in Reima overalls.

2. Fleece slip
Carter's - 1 pc. R. 3M

Also my second love at first sight. Very comfortable slip. The first time they dressed right in the rodblok, then they wore it either as an intermediate layer, or to the clinic. Incredibly convenient because it has a zipper. Size 3M for a newborn is strong, but it served us faithfully for quite a long time. Up to 3 months for sure.

3. Fleece jumpsuit
Reima - 1 pc. R. 56+6

And the nurse in the maternity hospital shoved Sasha into it at discharge))) And she also actively used it either as a walking overalls, while the temperature was above +10 or as an intermediate layer at zero or sub-zero temperatures outside the window in the absence of winter overalls.

4. Demi-season overalls and a winter envelope
Kerry (we have one, only blue)

Great model!!! Moderately warm and good stand-up collar. The child does not freeze, does not die. No scarves needed, no separate mittens and booties.
Therefore, they also took Kerry (Kerry Bliss envelope) for the winter. It's just a pity that he grew out of it quickly (((

5. Hats
Bought with the onset of cold weather, not immediately.
Our dad bought as many as three hats))) I could not decide. In the end everyone wore it.
Balaclava from Reima

And two Janus - thin wool with strings (photo not found) and fleece lined

Maternity hospital
Right in the roadblock, Sasha was dressed in a white Mothercare cotton sleepsuit, Carter's fleece sleepsuit on top and a Next hat.
In the postpartum department, I came in handy:
1. Slips
2. Socks - fix the slips on the leg
3. Cotton hat without ties
4. Flannel diapers (used instead of a blanket)

EXTRACT
When we were discharged from the hospital, it was slightly above +5.
It was supposed that if it was warm, then I would put on my son:
1. Kiabi Wrap Bodysuit
2. Terry slip Carter's
3. Reima fleece overall
4. Hat with Reima knot

If it's warm, I'll wear Kerry instead of the Reima fleece. The children's nurse put everything on Sasha)
Kerry, we are in the car, of course, we filmed it right there!

The birth of a new family member is usually associated not only with joyful expectations, but also with a lot of pleasant troubles. Properly managing finances, buying everything necessary and beautiful, guessing with sizes is one of the most important and priority tasks for a future mother.

What is a slip

Not so long ago, this word appeared in the dictionary of young mothers and their inner circle - sleep. But this is a whole era in the development of children's fashion, ideas about what life should be like after the birth of a baby.

Overview and description

Not every woman waiting knows what slips are for. Slip, "little man", sliders, bodysuit, sandman - this is how they call a thing that makes life extremely easy for both mother and baby in the difficult first months of life.

Translated from English, "to sleep" means "to sleep." To say that a child in a sleepsuit only sleeps would be untrue. He lives there for almost a year.

Classic sleepsuit - a jumpsuit that combines a vest with sliders. This wonderful thing allows the child to feel comfortable and free. No cramping diaper movements, bulging undershirts, slipping sliders can compare with it.

Benefits of using

The advantages of using slips for include a number of advantages:

  • if there is a need to change, it is absolutely not necessary to completely undress the baby - it is enough to free the lower body;
  • a push-button clasp on the "little men" allows you to completely change clothes even for a sleepy baby as comfortably as possible;
  • the slip will make it easier to visit a doctor at home or go to a children's clinic, where the undressing procedure is almost inevitable;
  • if the baby reveals itself in a dream, the mother may not worry - no parts of the body will be exposed, will not freeze, and a good sleep will be provided to the whole family.
  • slips are represented by a large model range - as they say, for every taste and budget;
  • and finally, it's just beautiful and very comfortable.

Kinds

The popularity of slips is becoming huge. To satisfy the tastes of the most demanding customers, these jumpsuits are presented in several rows of models.

According to season and fabric used

All slips are divided into:

Summer ones are usually sewn from thin 100% knitwear, which allows air to circulate freely, prevent diaper rash and absorb moisture. For a cool summer evening, classic types of slips with closed arms and legs are used.

For the heat, you can’t think of anything better than a bodysuit - a slip without legs and sleeves. For winter, warmer fabrics are preferable - fleece, velor, wool, bike. They can be either lined with knitwear, synthetic winterizer or holofiber, or without it.

Warm slips are used as independent for newborns or as underwear under winter or autumn overalls. In this case, under the winter overalls, you must definitely wear a light knitted one.

By location and types of buttons (buttons)

Often this criterion becomes decisive when buying this type of children's clothing, since the comfort of wearing it depends on the location of the fastener.

However, the first two are considered the most popular options. A model with a zipper is better to buy for a one-year-old and older child, so as not to accidentally pinch the baby's delicate skin.

The button fastening is reliable and safe, but the fastening process itself takes a lot of time, which is worth its weight in gold for a new mother. Hooks and ties on children's clothing are a thing of the past and are practically not used.

Sleeves

Long sleeve slips can have several varieties:

  • on a cuff from a soft jersey elastic band;
  • just a sleeve without an elastic band;
  • ending with turn-down mittens or cuffed mittens with buttons.

The latter is simply made for newborns who can scratch themselves. As the child grows, these pockets or scratch-off mittens turn away or come unfastened.

Sleepsuits for newborns with short sleeves or without it at all are worn in summer or as home clothes.

The shape of the legs

  • with closed legs;
  • with trousers on a soft wide elastic band at the ankles;
  • with flap pockets.

Each type of pants has its own advantages. In overalls with closed tracks, the baby will not freeze, but the leg can grow faster than the child himself from clothes.
The slip with elastic bands on the ankles is good because even if the trousers become short, you can put on socks - the child will be warm, and the life of the overalls can be increased.

The model with pockets-lapels combines the advantages of the two previous ones - while the child is small, the legs will be closed. When he grows up, the pockets can be folded over and socks can be put on.

How to choose the most comfortable sleepsuit for your baby

It is important that the clothes for the baby not only please the eye and cause tenderness, but be comfortable for its owner.

Choose a size

In newborns, determining the size is very simple - it corresponds to growth.

  • 0-2 months - 50-56, 56-62 cm;
  • 1-3 months - 62-68 cm;
  • 3-6 months - 68-74 cm;
  • 6-9 months - 74-80 cm;
  • 9-12 months - 80-86 cm.

It is not recommended to buy for a very large “outgrowth” - heat transfer is not regulated in newborns, so the child will simply freeze in too spacious clothes.

If the parents are small in stature, then it is unlikely that they will have a giant, so for the first time, a size of 50-56 will do.

If mom and dad are tall, then the child should immediately take the 62nd size. The slip helps develop the baby's fine motor skills, provides healthy skin without diaper rash and irritation, good blood circulation and free breathing. The little one gets to know her body better and learns to control it.

Did you know?According to statistics, most often children are born on Tuesday. Less often - on weekends.

Deciding on shapes and fabrics

There are several forms of slips:

The basic rule when choosing clothes for a baby is that everything that comes into contact with the body of a child should be made only from natural fabrics. When choosing a slipway, seasonality must be taken into account. For summer, bodysuits or slips with elasticated legs are suitable. For winter - closed knitted or fleece sleepsuits for newborns.

Overalls with synthetic filling or top, fleece, terry, woolen are designed for outdoor walks in the cool season.

Go shopping: how many slips to buy for the first time

The child in the first months of life grows very quickly, then its growth slows down. Therefore, you do not need to buy a lot of things for the first months. The optimal amount would be 5 cotton (one for the child, two in the wash and two in reserve) and 1-2 fleece "little men".

Wash Children's things require a different, more thorough and selective approach than adults.

  • after purchase, all slips must be washed and ironed before being put on;
  • when choosing the temperature regime and the nature of the wash, it is better to be guided by the data of the tags on the clothes;
  • for washing, baby or laundry soap or phosphate-free powder is suitable;
  • children's clothes should be washed separately from adult clothes;
  • if a rash, redness or irritation appears on the child’s skin, the laundry detergent that needs to be replaced may be the cause;
  • the function of additional rinsing of things is relevant for the entire first year of a child’s life;
  • the extraction of things from natural fabrics should be delicate.

After drying, things should be dry and not deformed.
To do this, it is important to observe the following rules:

  • in urban conditions, it is most convenient to dry things on the balcony;
  • in winter, batteries can be used, while it is important to place things on a clean surface so that they retain their shape;
  • woolen and knitted sleepsuits should not be hung up, they should be laid out to dry on a flat surface.

Ironing and steaming prevent infections from entering the umbilical wound that has not yet healed:

  • natural fabrics are ironed slightly damp;
  • velor is only steamed;
  • woolen things are not ironed;
  • iron for synthetics is heated to a minimum.

Important! Knitted slips are ironed on both sides during the entire first month of a baby's life, after that - only on one side.

The appearance of slips for children has become a new word in the quality of life and comfort of little fashionistas, which will be appreciated not only by them, but also by their younger brothers and sisters.

Unlike Soviet times, today a newborn is much easier to dress than then. Although folk signs say that until the baby is born, he should not buy clothes, but who said that you can’t look after her. And this is where the main point arises - what exactly is suitable for the child, so that he feels comfortable, and parents have a minimum of problems with dressing.

It is worth noting the fact that the season of the birth of the baby is also taken into account. Indeed, in the summer it is not worth wrapping him in clothes so that he does not get tired, and in winter, on the contrary, things should be warm. And just to help young parents comes such clothes as slips for newborns. They are a kind of little men who have long sleeves and legs. This type of clothing is very convenient, as it allows the baby to be fully dressed. In addition, quite different materials are used for their tailoring: knitwear, fleece, velor.

This model was originally intended for sleep, but later designers developed a line of slips that are worn by the child and for a walk, and used as everyday wear. Even if the mother needs to change her diaper on the street, using the buttons located between the legs, this procedure will not take much time. This jumpsuit is much more comfortable than old diapers, undershirts and diapers.

These jumpsuits are very comfortable for both kids and their parents.

Nuances of choice

In general, slips do not require any other things to be put on the bottom of the baby, they are put on over the naked body. But in order for manyuni to have maximum comfort, parents should remember the following selection criteria.

The best material option for such a bodysuit for a newborn is cotton or baize, without additions. Firstly, this fabric allows the skin to breathe freely. Secondly, the density of materials is such that the baby will not freeze even in winter, and if there is any doubt about this, then you can always pry off an additional T-shirt from below or keep the child in a special sleeping bag. Thirdly, cotton and flannelette slips do not cause allergic reactions in children, which is why they are considered safe for the skin. If there is a need to buy insulated overalls, then it will definitely have a synthetic lining. In this case, lower things must be worn.

If clothes are chosen for a newborn, then it should be remembered that the baby at this age still does not know how to hold his head, which means that it should be comfortable to wear them. Therefore, models worn over the head are best purchased for children from six months. For crumbs, options on buttons are suitable, which are located from the neck to the legs. Such a jumpsuit is also convenient because even if the baby is sleeping, the mother can easily change his diaper without taking off his clothes.

When the jumpsuit is purchased for discharge, you can choose an elegant option. Velor bodysuits and models with lace (for girls) look very interesting. But this is more of a festive outfit, since in everyday life all sorts of laces will simply interfere. In addition, the velor fabric is quickly rubbed, which means that the places of constant contact of the clothes with the bed, after a certain time, will be indicated by scuffs.

It should be remembered that children under one year old grow very quickly. Therefore, clothes should be bought a maximum of 5 pieces in one size, otherwise there is a risk of not having time to demolish everything. But again, here you should watch your child, since each baby is individual - someone grows faster, and someone slower.

The baby grows quickly, so you should not buy a large number of clothes of the same size.

Our grandmothers dressed us in rompers and undershirts with the seams outward. Such tailoring is designed to minimize trauma to the child's skin. But the modern bodysuit sewing technology is such that all edges are carefully overcast, which means that the baby’s skin will not get irritation at all. In addition, for children's clothing, responsible manufacturers choose not only soft fabrics, but also soft sewing threads.

It is also worth noting the acquisition of this clothing. For newborns, you can choose a model where there are pockets on the arms and legs. When closed, they will act as socks and scratches, and as soon as the baby grows up, they are turned away, and nothing will interfere with the child. This will help you save money on new clothes.

Do not forget about the variety itself. There are slips for newborns, where there are no panties. Such models for summer children. You can also pay attention to overalls, where there is an elastic band at the bottom, which will gradually stretch with the growth of the child, which means that the thing will be used a little longer. But for winter crumbs, it is worth choosing models that are completely closed, since in the first 4 months the thermal balance is disturbed in children, which means that they freeze even at +20 degrees.

The quality of the clothes is also very important. If you buy a lot of cheap bodysuits and slips, then literally after 2-3 washes they will begin to shed, and the components will fall apart at the seams. If parents decide to raise a baby the old fashioned way, that is, without diapers, then more things will be needed, respectively. Well, if such a miracle of modernity is still used, then literally 5-6 pieces of bodysuits will be enough until the baby grows out of them.

From such, at first glance, seemingly insignificant moments, in fact, the calmness and comfort of the baby and his mother depend.

Choosing the right fasteners

Today, there are a huge number of models on the children's clothing market, where a variety of fastener options are presented. To an inexperienced mother, it may seem that there is no difference in them. But it's not. There are a few tips to help you sort this out:

  1. The most convenient option is buttons. They save not only time, but also nerves. Even if the jumpsuit was purchased for a newborn, then do not forget that the child can be very mobile. Therefore, there is a risk that the same ties can get tangled so that you can’t do without the help of scissors. But the buttons have an unpleasant feature - they are constantly unbuttoned. Accordingly, in winter there is a risk that the baby will freeze. In addition, loose tissue can irritate the baby. Also, do not choose models with zippers, as they can pinch the skin of the child.
  2. For babies aged 0-3 months, it is best to use a sleepsuit that is completely unfastened from the head to the feet. Such a model is easily assembled into a single whole, the main thing is that the fasteners go in the center. This will make it easier for the child to change. But for older kids, there are models of slips, where the fasteners go already along one leg.

Although it is impossible to strictly state that buttons are more convenient than buttons or zippers. Each mother chooses clothes not only for her baby, but also for her convenience.

Slip - features of the lower part

In the first months of life after the birth of a baby, parents often have to change clothes for their baby. And here certain difficulties may arise if the overalls were chosen (or donated) out of inexperience.

Particular attention when choosing a slip should be given to fasteners.

In fact, since the main problem area in a child is a diaper, this point should be carefully considered. There are several options for the legs of the slip, and each has its own distinctive features:

  • legs with traces (sewn) - an inseparable bottom allows the child to constantly be warm, but such a bodysuit will not last long (the child is growing too fast);
  • legs with folding pockets - in cold weather they allow you to keep warm, and in summer - open the legs "for ventilation";
  • the bottom of the legs has an elastic band - the most convenient option, since as the child grows, the panties turn into breeches.

The latter option is especially popular, as it is easy to supplement it with socks, and the baby can continue to grow further.

Finally, I would like to specify the color scheme of such clothes. And here there are no restrictions. Each mother can individually choose a wardrobe for her child. Here everything will depend on personal preferences. The only thing that, perhaps, is worth noting is practicality. The fact is that if the baby is already on complementary foods, or even better, he is taught to eat on his own, then there is no place for white things in this matter. Mom will simply get tired of driving the washing machine back and forth. And besides, not all stains are so easy to remove. Therefore, the older the baby becomes, the more practical his clothes should be. Moreover, by the age of 2, the slip can already be used only as nightwear, since even if the baby opens up, in any case, he will not freeze.

Shortly before the baby is born, young parents are concerned about acquiring a "dowry". If you want not only to get your hands on it, but also to navigate it, i.e. understand how a bodysuit differs from a vest or a slider from a jumpsuit, then you simply need the competent advice of a textile specialist.

Shortly before the baby is born, young parents are concerned about the acquisition. If you want not only to get a dowry list in your hands, but also to navigate in it, i.e. understand how a bodysuit differs from a vest or a slider from a jumpsuit, then you simply need the competent advice of a textile specialist. Then when choosing quality clothes for your baby, you will buy everything without buying.

The first layer is underwear

The first requirement for underwear and clothes for a newborn is for the baby's thin and delicate skin.

baby skin about 5 times thinner than the skin of an adult, and it does not have an upper stratum corneum (it is formed only by 4 years). Therefore, the skin of an infant absorbs everything that falls on it much faster and more intensely than the skin of an adult. In addition, the ratio of "skin surface area / body weight" in an infant differs by 3 times (!) From the same ratio in an adult. Those. the baby has a large skin surface and a small body weight. It is therefore much more difficult for infants than for adults to maintain a constant body temperature. They easily lose heat and at the same time they are easy to overheat. Therefore, it is so important to create a "shell" around them with the right clothes and diapers, which maintains optimal body temperature and breathes. By choosing the right underwear and clothing, you can reduce the risk of allergies and skin diseases.

Vest, T-shirt or bodysuit?

Undershirt it is convenient to put on a newborn for the first time, especially if he was born very small. One or two vests are enough, which - if anything - can be alternated with a bodysuit. The fact is that the vest does not need to be worn over the head. The baby is wrapped in it, as it were. It is especially convenient when it (in the diaper). The best material for undershirts is considered to be soft, delicate and hygroscopic silk-wool, although the cotton we are used to is also not bad. Vests are produced in 2 sizes 50\56 (age 1-2 months) and 62\68 (3-6 months), but usually everyone switches to t-shirts and bodysuits to size 62\68.

T-shirts with overlapped shoulders(without a seam on the shoulder) are good because they have a comfortable neck, wide enough for the child's head to easily pass through it. If you're worried that your baby's back will open up in a traditional one-piece, or you're going to dress him up in romper suits and overalls from the very beginning, then a T-shirt is preferable. Available from size 62 (age approx. 2-3 months).

Bodysuit(from the English "body" - "body"). Very comfortable and inherently "correct" underwear for a newborn or small child. It is worn over the head, fastened between the legs with buttons. It comes with short and long sleeves. On top of the bodysuit, as a rule, the shoulders overlap, i.e. seamless. This is very convenient for dressing the baby, given its proportions - a relatively small body, small, narrow shoulders and a large head. The bodysuit for babies is good because it covers and protects the entire body of the child as much as possible and does not ride up, exposing the tummy, even in the most active babies. At any time of the year, it is better for a newborn to choose a long-sleeve silk-wool bodysuit (preferably undyed). In hot summers, you can opt for a short-sleeve bodysuit made of cotton or pure silk.

Swaddling bodysuit- This is a bodysuit with a fastener on the side along the entire length, from the neckline to the cutout of the leg. It is good because they simply put the child on top of the unbuttoned bodysuit and, without disturbing, fasten the buttons. This is convenient for the child and young parents in the initial period, when "both parties" get used to the dressing-changing procedure. The changing body is available in two initial sizes.

Does the child need a cap?

After all, we don’t wear caps ... Yes, but we do have hair, and the child has only a light fluff on his head. The proportions of a baby are completely different than those of an adult: if you compare a baby and an adult, then the baby's head will be disproportionately large. In addition, the baby also has a large open fontanel. Do not forget that, while inside, the baby is used to resting his head against a warm and dear mother. Therefore, at first, especially in the first forty days, a cap is a very necessary and correct thing.

From what, in fact, does the bonnet protect the child? From hypothermia and overheating. From excessive dryness and excessive moisture. From noise.

A silk-woolen cap, covering the ears and gently massaging the fontanel, when the baby moves, brings him back with his sensations to his beloved, recently abandoned mother's womb. Where it was so good, muffled-quiet and safe-cramped. The most famous quality of silk, which "cools in the heat" and "warms in the cold", is absolutely indispensable in this situation and simply cannot be compared with anything. A cap made of silk-wool, cotton, cotton and silk is worn both at home and under a street hat (helmet).

How is a cap different from a hat?

A bonnet is more linen, it is thin, with flat seams or seams outward. It is worn at home, on the street alone (if warm) or under a cap (if cold).

Beanie more for the street. For the off-season, hats made of cotton jersey are very good. Different dressing of knitwear - thin smooth knitwear, terry, velor, with fleece from the inside - allows you to choose a hat for any weather conditions. If you have a warm jumpsuit with a hood, then in winter (especially if the winter is mild) you can walk in such a hat.

Helmet good because it can be put on in one motion, and the fact that the neck of a child in such a hat is always closed.

Beanie with ties- woolen with cotton lining - good for cold autumn days and for winter. When choosing it, pay attention to the fact that: 1) the ties are convenient for tying and 2) the hat is cut so that the child's neck is covered with it up to the first vertebra.

Underpants a newborn, of course, is not needed. Although they are often sold in small sizes (62-68, 74-80) and are called "diaper panties". The benefit of such a purchase, from our point of view, is very doubtful. Briefs are functional for children 1.5-2 years old (from size 92), when potty training begins. During this period, it makes sense to pay attention to silk-wool underpants. In them, the child's ass will not freeze, even if he sits on the floor or if he accidentally pees.

The second layer is clothes

Over the linen, clothes are put on the baby: baby sliders and a blouse, a panty bag and a blouse, panties and a blouse or a baby overalls. How do these types of clothing differ from each other?

Rompers, panty bag and overalls they are good because they are not fixed at the waist, i.e. do not put any pressure on the sensitive umbilical region and tummy. In addition, the tummy cannot be exposed in them.

sliders- this is a semi-overalls with a fastener on the shoulders, i.e. it covers the entire body of the baby, leaving only the arms open. Rompers can be made of cotton, silk or wool. When it's cold, it's better to wear wool or silk; when it's warm, cotton. For allergic children, cotton and silk are recommended as clothing materials.

panty bag Ideal as a first dress for a newborn. And the first time is not for sleep, but for wakefulness.

A panty bag differs from everyone's understandable panties in the same way that mittens differ from gloves. The legs in it, like the fingers in the mitten, are not separated. Therefore, these panties are very easy to put on a newborn baby with his small and thin legs. The panties are held in place by a wide and soft elastic band that reaches under the armpits. If you put on a newborn bag-panties on socks, then in this warm "mitten" he will be warm and comfortable.

What will freeze your hand faster? Of course, with a glove. Although it is more convenient to operate in it with your hand, insulated fingers freeze much faster. By dressing a child in a panty bag, we help him gradually get used to this world, give him warmth and security. We give what he needs, and not the surrounding adults, touched by the "little fashionista or fashionista."

Overalls- it's 2 in one. Instead of a blouse and sliders / panties, you can wear a jumpsuit. The good thing about a jumpsuit is that it's faster and easier to put on than 2 pieces. Anxiety when dressing for a baby, if the overalls are fastened in front / behind along the entire length, is minimal. The tummy is always closed in it, do not toss and turn like a baby. The only negative of the overalls is that if the child burps or pees, then the entire overalls will have to be changed, and not just the blouse or just the sliders.

It is optimal that during the cold season, which lasts for about 9 months, the overalls or sliders are with closed leg. Then the child can be sent for a walk without changing clothes, putting on a woolen suit on top of him.

Panties it is better to wear not on a newborn, but on a slightly grown baby, starting from size 62\68. Pay attention when buying panties so that they have the right elastic band - wide and loose, it should hold on, but not put pressure on the waist area. And in no case do not leave marks on it!

Tights, being an ingenious clothing invention, is still not the best and most comfortable for a newborn: they fit very tightly and are also uncomfortable to put on. Instead of tights, for a very small one, it is better to wear romper / jumpsuit made of cotton or wool in combination with socks or a panty bag.

Summary: for the smallest (newborns), the most suitable clothes are rompers, panty bag, overalls. For older babies (from 3 months), in addition to the named types of clothing, pants and tights are already suitable. From 10 months old, almost all mothers prefer to dress their babies in panties and tights (they are easy to put on and take off when putting the baby on the potty).

Blouse worn over linen under sliders, panty bag, panties. Blouse with side or front closure along the entire length is good for newborns, because it does not cause them any anxiety when dressing, because. She is not put on over her head. The child is simply put on an unbuttoned blouse from above, the handles are pushed into the sleeves and the buttons are fastened on the side. It can be either brushed cotton or fine merino wool. Usually available in two sizes: 50\56 and 62\68.

Blouse with a fastener on the shoulder available from initial sizes up to size 92 (i.e. as long as the child's head is very large compared to the body). It is good because it has a large and comfortable neck, the head easily passes into it. It can be made of cotton of different dressing and fine wool.

Summary: for newborns, blouses with a clasp on the side or in front are more convenient, for older children (sliders) - blouses with a clasp on the shoulder.

Booties and socks it is no coincidence that a traditional piece of baby clothing. The most difficult thing for a newborn baby is to keep and keep warm on the periphery of his little body. This is especially true for the legs. Even an adult cannot fall asleep if he has cold feet - this is the most common cause of insomnia.

Socks and booties keep the legs warm and help to fix the sliders or overalls on the leg if they are too big in the foot. When choosing booties, pay attention that the cuffs are elastic and hold well on the leg, otherwise the child will constantly kick off the small leg from the leg and the leg will become supercooled. The best socks for a newborn baby are made of wool.

The third layer is clothing for the street

For a walk in winter under a warm street or envelope bag(which can be replaced with an ordinary woolen or wadded blanket) the child is put on wool blouse (sweater) And panties(alternative - wool jumpsuit) along with mittens, a warm hat or helmet. Ideally, all these things can be connected by a mother or a loving grandmother.

Wool knitted blouse needed all year round, and in the off-season is simply irreplaceable.

Wool blouse with a hood more useful for cooler and rainy weather, as well as for children who do not like hats. Hooded blouses come with or without lining (wool, cotton) for all shades of cool weather.

Choosing sweater, pay attention that its neck is wide enough or that it has a button closure (zipper) on the shoulder. After all, the head of the child is disproportionately large compared to his height. A classic sweater with a high collar (golf collar) is not suitable for a small child. It is better to give preference to a sweater with a round collar, and tie around the neck handkerchief or scarf.

In the cold season, you can not do without warm jackets and overalls. More convenient for little kids overalls. Why? They are easier and faster to put on / take off than a jacket and panties; the abdomen is securely closed.

The best material for overalls: felted wool (it is denser and less blown than ordinary wool, but also breathes well). Warm arms and legs mittens and booties from ordinary and felted wool.

When a child is just trying to take the first steps, they will fit leather with wool insoles. If the shoes are embroidered and appliquéd, then they can be a great gift.

Hats and mittens made of soft (merino) wool or felted wool will complement a warm outfit. For very young children (up to 10 months), mittens without a finger are preferable - they keep the hand warmer. When the child is already walking and trying to take objects with his hands, classic mittens are needed.

  • for summer, it is better to choose clothes made of absorbent and breathable materials with a smooth structure, i.e. smooth fabrics and knitwear (cotton, silk and their combination);
  • for winter, materials with a non-smooth structure are better, i.e. terry, plush, velor materials, fleece fabrics, fleece (wool, silk-wool, cotton);
  • what is worn directly on the body should be made of hygroscopic (absorbent) material, preferably not dyed and washed at temperatures up to 60 ° C (cotton) or self-cleaning in air (silk, wool, silk-wool);
  • combine clothing made from materials of animal (wool, silk) and vegetable (cotton, linen) origin;
  • it is better to wear several light things on top of each other than one very warm one;
  • at any time of the year, things made of merino wool and silk wool should be included in the baby's wardrobe, because these materials create an optimal microclimate - they retain the necessary heat and remove excess.
